メトロポリタン美術館（美術専門ガイド解説ツアー）
世界３大美術館としてニューヨーカーの誇り「メトロポリタン美術館」。なかでもアメリカ最大のコレクションを誇る「エジプト館」をご紹介します。ロビー向って右のウィングがエジプト館です。ヌビアにあったデンドール神殿が寄贈されて館内に復元されている事はあまりに有名なので、ここでは細かな作品を集めてみました。

入口から右回りに進むと湿気をコントロールしたケースの中に大切そうに収められているもの、これは象牙でできたナイフのつかで、紀元前３２００年前のものです。素晴らしく精巧にデザインが刻まれていて驚きす。（全長約１０ｃｍほど）
「ものを運ぶ女」。埋葬品の１つでしょうが破損がほとんどなく当時のままです。
第１２王朝第２代の王、センウセレト１世の像。紀元前２０００年ごろ。父のアメンエムへト１世と１０年の共同統治をし中央集権を確立したとあります。ふくよかな顔立ちです。
この部屋にはハトシェプト像がいくつも展示されてあって、圧巻です！
（左）これは頭がほとんど紛失しているハトシェプト像ですが、モダンアートのようなバランスの像です。胴の装飾が凝っています。（右）損傷が少ないハトシェプト像。表情がやや硬い感じですが、指導力を表しているのでしょうか？
「Osiride Statues」オシリス神の頭の像。頭だけが３体並ぶ風景は異様ですが、なんとも豊な幸せそうな表情をしています。オシリス神は穀物神、死・復活の神、冥界の王、ナイルの洪水の神などとされています。
穀物などを保存したつぼ。数千年たっても布がそのまま残っているのは驚きです。
「Stattuette of AMUN」アメンの像（第３中期 ２２王朝時代）アメン神とラー神は古代エジプトの神々の中で最も有名かつ重要なのだそうです。元来は大気の神のシュウ神の聖霊だったそうで、アメン神はエジプトの国力が最大の時期に国家の守護神として篤く崇拝されいたそうです。
「shawabti of yuya」（ミイラ片の小人物像） 第１８王朝の王 アメンへテブ３世の王妃のティイの母と書いてあります。シダーの木でできていて木目もはっきりと残っています。顔の表情がなんとも言えずかわいらしく美しい。
第１８王朝時代、クイーンの顔の破片。顔のほとんどが失われていますが、何度見てもハッとする色合いで、口のまわりの曲線が美しい像です。
銀製の女性像 紀元前６００年頃、第２２王朝時代 エジプトでは銀は産出しなかったため銀製の像は非常に珍しいのだそうです。かすかな笑み（ちょっと見えにくいですが）、細いからだ、短い髪で当時の美人像を表わしているそうです。胸まで上げた左手が高貴さを感じさせます。
（左）化粧品入れ。ペンスタンドのように見えますが、おしろいを入れていたのでしょうか？第１８王朝の女王。ハトシェプストの名前が刻まれています。（右）装飾スプーン。第１８王朝 お皿を抱えて泳いでいる女性をかたどっているそうです。ユーモアのあるデザインです。
（左）紀元前１４００年、第１８王朝時代のお皿。花の模様が日本のパスポートにある菊のご紋と似ていますがこちらは１６枚ではなくて、２４枚あります（右）これは、カバの形のデザイン模様がついた「くし」。紀元前３２００前のものです。このほかキリンや、人物のデザインの「くし」も展示されています。今から５０００年以上前に使っていた日常品がたくさん見れるのは、他にはあまり無いのではないかと思います。
エジプトの美術・工芸品は必要な材料のほとんどがエジプト国内か近隣から供給できたのだそうで、今でも目を引く魅力的な作品が多いと思います。すぐれた職人には「アメン神の金細工師」といった特別の照合が与えられたのだそうです。メトロポリタン美術館にはメジャーな作品の他にも、日常品や小物がたくさん展示されていて、当時の生活を想像しながら見学するのもまた違った楽しみがあります。
