ニューヨークのヘアサロンと聞いてすぐに連想されるのが、やはり“ハリウッド女優やスーパーモデル御用達”ということが話題となる有名サロン。そのほとんどがミッドタウンのパーク・アベニューやフィフス・アベニューにあり、例え“一般の人も受け付けている”とか“セレブ専属の一部のヘアスタイリスト以外は通常料金”と聞いていても、予約を入れるまでにはずいぶんの気合いや勇気が必要です。そこでここでご紹介したのが、ウエスト・ビレッジの一角にひっそりと佇む『Damian West（ダミアン・ウエスト）』です。

ウエスト・ビレッジといえば、ジャズのクラブハウスやレストラン、バーが密集しいて、平日でもたくさんの人々で賑わうナイトスポット。しかし、ストリートを１本それると、人通りも車も少ない、ひっそりとした閑静な住宅地といえます。そんなエリアのとあるタウンハウスの一室にある『ダミアン・ウエスト』は、わずか14歳でアシスタントを始めたという、Spresaさんがオープンしたこだわりのサロン。そのこだわりのひとつは「お客さんにとって、フレンドリーで家族的なムードであるように」、ということ。そのこだわりどおり、スタッフはSpresaさんのボーイフレンドや妹、そして親しい友人……、という構成になっていて、訪れるお客さんを常に暖かムードで歓迎し、サービスを施してくれます。

また、なんといっても、サロン自体が普通のタウンハウスの一室、というところが、その家庭的な雰囲気をさらに盛り上げてくれます。無機質でお洒落な打ちっぱなしのコンクリートの、スタイリッシュなサロンもいいですが、レンガや木、また庭の木々や自然光に包まれた雰囲気は格別です。サービス内容は、通常のカットやパーマ、カラーリングなどはもちろんのこと、ウエディングのスタイリングも常時受け付けてくれています。“大切なその日”のためのスタイリングを、本物の家族であるスタッフに囲まれながらお任せできるなんて素敵ですよね。
