メトロポリタン美術館（美術専門ガイド解説ツアー）

ニューヨークに来たら必ず行く「メトロポリタン美術館」。二階の南ウィングにあるメソポタミア（Ancient Near　Eastern Art）文明、どちらかというとマイナーですが、その代わり空いてるのでじっくり見ることができます。

入口を入って最初の展示品ケースにある「つぼ」です。紀元前１世紀、イランの北西部で発見されたものだそうで、青、緑、茶色、黄、白の色合いが当時としては素晴らしく出ているのだそうです。漫画のような牛の絵が面白いですね。

やはり入口の展示品ケースの上にある霰石のレリーフ。貢物の馬を引く新郎で、紀元前７００年位の作品で、John D.Rockefellerの寄贈とあります。

（左） Decorated Boss　楯に使うものらしいですが手に持つところなんでしょうか？銀製で紀元前７〜８世紀のものだそうです。（右）これは純金製のイアリングです。紀元前４世紀のもので非常に細かいデザインでライオンのような動物が二匹づついます。

これは、ユニコーンのデザインのスタンプ・シールの破片だそうです。インダス河付近、紀元前１９００〜２６００年前のものだそうですが、こういったスタンプが数多く展示されてます。公文書を記録することが頻繁に行われていたんでしょうか。

アッシリアのアッシュールナツィルパル２世のパレスの遺跡だそうです。アッシュールナツィルパル２世は紀元前８８３〜８５９年の在位で、徹底的に敵を破壊する残酷さで典型的なアッシリアの君主だったそうです。

位の高い人が着る着物に付ける飾り板だそうです。もちろん純金製。

これも純金製のネックレス。ものすごく細かに金を織りあげてます。

紀元前１世紀の瓶やガラスの入れ物。光の当たり方で美しく輝きます。何を入れていたんでしょう、どれも面白い形をしています。

ほんの３ｃｍほどの女性の頭の像です。紀元前１世紀頃のもので、座像についていたんだろうと書かれています。異様に大きく開かれた目ですが不思議にバランスがとれて品のある顔です。

このギャラリーは空いているので、マイペースで観ることができます。歩き疲れた時は周りに気を使わずにベンチでゆっくり休む事ができますよ！
