もともと現代美術に興味があり、日頃から、美術館や街並みを観察して歩くのが好きだと言う白川さんは、レストンやカフェ、バーなどの激戦区と言われているロウワー・イーストサイドに2008年にオープンしたデザートカフェ『LUXEE（リュクシー）』のシェフパティシエ。白川さんのクリエイトするデザートは、アメリカのデザートシーンでは決して見ることのできない華やかで繊細さに溢れた、まさに“アート”と言える数々。その美しさは、あっという間にニューヨーカーを魅了し話題となり、ニューヨークタイムスにも掲載されたほど。そのインスピレーションは、ＮＹの美術館や街そのものからも得ているのだとか。
「例えば、絵画からは色彩の組み合わせ方、モニュメントや彫刻などの造詣からは、デザインのヒントをもらいます。デザートは言わば五感を使ったアートなので、そこに味覚や食感などのデザインも加えます。もちろん、食べる人がどんなデザートだったら楽しいか？　ということは常に考えながらデザートを作っていますよ」と言う白川さん。そんな白川さんが好きなＮＹの街並みは、NOHOやチェルシーなど。また、グリーンマーケットやフラワーマーケットにも、デザートのアイディアを練るためによくのぞきに行くそうです。
