注目の第２回ＷＢＣがもうすぐ開幕日本代表の２連覇はなるのか?!

スポーツファンにとって、絶対に見逃せないイベントが間近に迫っています。世界の国々の代表メンバーが一同に会し、最高の野球国の座を争う『ワールド・ベースボール・クラシック（WBC）』がいよいよ３月から開始されるのです。2006年から始まったこの夢のようなトーナメントは、第１回大会にもアメリカ、キューバ、ドミニカ共和国、プエルトリコ、ベネズエラや名高い強豪国が参加して、世界中の野球好きたちを熱狂させてくれました。そしてその前回では、王貞治監督に率いられた日本代表が見事に優勝を飾ったのも、まだ記憶に新しいところです。来るべき第２回WBCで、日本は２連覇を目指すことになるのです。

今大会に臨む日本代表メンバーには、松坂大輔（写真）、イチロー、福留孝介、城島健司、岩村明憲らメジャーリーグの舞台で活躍するスター選手がずらり。さらに、ダルビッシュ有、藤川球児など日本球界が誇る俊英たちも加わり、まさに最強メンバーが結成されたと言って良いでしょう。この日本代表が、雪辱を期すアメリカ、ドミニカ共和国、韓国らライバル国をどう迎え撃つか。もともと世界大会への関心が高い日本国内では大フィーバーは間違いないでしょうが、開催国のアメリカでも注目度は徐々に高まっています。WBCの期間中に、マイアミ、サンディエゴ、ロスアンジェルスなどを訪れる人は、ぜひともとこのビッグイベントの生観戦にトライしてみましょう。ニューヨークでは試合は行なわれませんが、街中のレストランやバーには各国のファンが集まって応援合戦を繰り広げているはず。日本チームの試合時には、テレビのある日本食レストランを訪れて友人たちと手に汗握るのも良いかもしれません。

“野球のワールドカップ”と呼ばれるWBCでは、母国の名誉を賭けて戦う国際試合ならではの緊張感が楽しめること間違いなし。日本チームの活躍に期待を寄せながら、世界最高レベルのトーナメントを心から楽しみましょう！
