ロブスター・ディナーとジャズ・ナイトツアー

【18:30　ヒルトンニューヨーク集合】
18時30分、ヒルトン・ニューヨーク・ホテルの1階にあるレセプションカウンターに集合。カップルの方もいて、今日はなんだかロマンチックな夜になりそうだなどと考えてるうちに、ガイドさんがやってきて、みんなで車に乗り込みロブスターと本場ジャズを堪能しに出発です！私たちを乗せた車は、マンハッタンをダウンタウンへ向かいながら、最初の目的地であるレストランを目指します。いつもは歩いたり、地下鉄を利用することが多いので、車でマンハッタンを移動するのはなんだか新鮮に感じました。移動中、ガイドさんがレストランでのディナーメニューやジャズクラブ、そしてそこでの出演者の案内をし、場を盛り上げてくれました。ロブスター初体験の私は、その未知なる味を想像しながら、車に揺られていました。

【19:00　レストランでロブスター・ディナー】
レストランに到着したのは、ホテルを出て15分ほど経った18時45分頃。レストランは、ニューヨーク大学近くにあるスパニッシュ・レストランでした。メニューは基本的に決められていますが、万が一、ロブスターが食べれないという参加者の方はチキンに変更可能だということ。ちなみにここでのドリンクは別料金なので、私たちは好きな飲み物が頼めました。特別にサングリアが食前酒としてテーブルに運ばれてくるときもあるそうで、私たちも頂くことができました。メニューは以下の通りです。

★この夜のメニュー (ドリンクは別料金)★
前菜：グリーンサラダ
メイン：ロブスター、サフランライス、グリーンビーンズ、フライドポテト
デザート：プディング、コーヒー又は紅茶

お食事の終了は20:15頃を目安に……、との案内がありましたが、
時間的には余裕もあって、お腹を休めることも出来ました。ガイドさんは食事中は不在ですが、
参加者の方々にオーダーの手伝いをするなど、私たちの不安の種を解消してくださり、
英語に自信のない方も特に問題はありません。

【20:45　ジャズクラブ入場】
20時15分、お腹の満たされた私たちはレストランをあとにし、
ジャズクラブへ向かいました。
車に乗っていた時間は5分程で、20時25分頃に
ジャズクラブ『ビレッジ・ヴァンガード』に到着。入り口は1箇所のみで、狭く急な階段へと続くので、歩くときは十分注意が必要でした。
ツアー内容では、ドリンク1杯（アルコール・ノンアルコール可）が含まれているので、
ガイドさんが皆さんの分を注文してくださいました。
追加注文も、料金を払えば飲むことができました。
本日の出演者は以下の通りです。

Bill Frisell - ギター

ビレッジ・ヴァンガードは、クラシックジャズやモダンジャズを演奏することが多いクラブとして知られており、
この3名の演奏は、少しずつテンポやリズムをずらし、不調和を奏でる進化系のジャズ。
このジャズのジャンルは日本人が聴きなれた4ビートのジャズではなく、
クラシックを聞いて育ったというミュージシャンが演奏するジャズなのだそう。
 4ビートのジャズクラブへと訪れたいかたは、
ハーレムのジャズクラブがおすすめで、ハーレム・ジャズナイト・ツアーがお勧めだそうです。クラブ内はこじんまりとしていて、ステージの真横で演奏を楽しむことができました。
ジャズに関してあまり精通していない私にとっても、
彼らの軽やかな指先の動きに見入ってしまい、聴き応えたっぷりでした。パフォーマンスは21時から22時15分までの1時間15分ありましたが、
楽しみながら聴き入っていたこともあり、あっという間に時間が過ぎてしまいました。
ガイドさんは演奏中もジャズクラブの中（一番後ろの席）にいらっしゃって「
ガイドさんはツアーの度に演奏を聞けるんだな〜」と思うと、うらやましかったです。
ドリンクを飲みながら、ニューヨークの老舗のジャズクラブでジャズを聴けるって、なんだかお洒落ですよね。

【23：00ヒルトンホテルにてツアー解散】まだ
頭のなかでジャズが流れる中、22時20分頃にジャズクラブを出発。
ガイドさんは、帰りの車の中でも、私たちの知らないジャズの魅力について話をしてくださり、
持ち帰る思い出は想像以上にたくさんありました。
 20分ほどでヒルトンホテルに到着し、
参加者の方々は私たちを含めて皆今日のツアーに満足げでした。
参加して思ったのですが、豪華なディナーにジャズ鑑賞はかなりの黄金タッグですよね。
一度と言わず、何度か参加したいツアーでした。
