街そのものが巨大なエネルギーに溢れるＮＹでは、自己を表現することが自然と身に付いてくるものです。「ＮＹでは皆が自己表現が上手いので、私も自分の表現をいかに強めるか、ということをより考えるようになりました」、と言う望月さんは、美大在学中、授業で一眼レフを持ったのがきっかけで“瞬間を切り取る”という写真の手法に魅了され、現在は、ファッション誌などを中心に活躍するフォトグラファー。それまでは、音楽が好きでよく見ていたミュージック・ビデオから、映像の方に興味を持っていたそうです。

そんな望月さんは「この手法の方が私にピッタリ」と感じた瞬間を切り取る写真の世界で、何を意識しているのでしょうか。「被写体の気持ちです。彼らの心と自分の心が一番いい雰囲気で合った瞬間こそが、一番のシャッターチャンスなんです」。そこから滲み出る写真からは、どこか懐かしい映画のワンシーンを彷彿させるような息が感じられます。
