いまでは、“デザイナーズ・ホテル”といえば多くの人人々に認知されており、ホテル通やインテリア、ファッションに興味のある人なら、一度は泊まってみたいと思うホテル。しかし、このホテルが誕生した1984年当時は、まだまだその呼び名も形態も珍しく、「デザイナーズ・ホテルってどんなホテル？」と言われていた頃です。そんな、まさにデザイナーズ・ホテルのパイオニアともいえるのが『MORGANS（モーガンズ）』です。このホテルは、建築総合デザイナーのフィリップ・スタルクとイアン・シュレイガーそして、著名なアンドレ・プットマンとが内装を手がけ、まさに、80年代のゴージャスで個性の強いデザインを堪能できるようなデザインになっています。もともとは、J.P.モーガンの屋敷だったというこのホテルは、マディソン街の37丁目と38丁目の間というファッショナブルな一画に位置し、エンパイヤ・ステート・ビルディングまで4ブロックと、周辺の環境にも恵まれています。そのため、ミュージカル鑑賞をはじめ、ショッピング、ビジネスにもとても便利です。
スッキリと、無駄無く洗練された室内は落ち着いたミニマリズム調。シンプルを追求したセンスの良い部屋では、まるで大都会での疲れを癒すために存在するように、寝具にはワンランク上のラグジュアリーなブランドが完備されています。
さらに注目すべきは、ホテル内にはキューバ料理とアジア料理のフュージョンで、グルメなニューヨーカーにも人気のレストラン『ASIA DE CUBA（アジア・デ・キューバ）』。味だけでなく、プレゼンテーションの素晴らしいお料理の数々を堪能できるにもかかわらず、“洗練されたデザイナーズ・ホテル”というイメージから解放され、カジュアルなムードのなかで食事をとれるのが魅力です。また、モノトーンを基調とした16世風のインテリアが素敵な『MORGANS BAR（モーガンズ・バー）』」もお見逃し無く！
