古き良きアメリカの伝統料理とバラの花束と指輪とプロポーズの言葉

ちょっと変わったこのお店の名前は、アメリカ独立戦争の史実に由来していて「もし敵が陸上を通って攻める時は合図の明かりを一度、海からの場合は二度」という意味。だから、料理も良きアメリカ料理の伝統をしっかりと押さえている。オープンしてから35年、一貫してメニューにあるのがビーフのヒレ肉にフォアグラを加え、パイ包み焼きにした一品。パイにナイフを当てると中からシューっと肉とフォアグラのニオイが立ち上り、たまらなく食欲を掻き立てる。
そしてこのお店は、ＮＹの雑誌のアンケートで“女性がプロポーズの言葉を聞きたいレストラン”で第一位になったこともある。私が食べに行った時も、隣のテーブルの上にたくさんの赤いバラの花びらが。お店の人に聞くと、まさにエンゲージの為のサービスだとか。そう思って見ると、うっとりとした瞳の女性の指にリングがキラリ。いいですねえ、私も妻を誘って…　エッ！　その日はもう予約で満席!?　それは残念。
