NYでアジアンテイストを食べたくなったら、タイやベトナム、中華料理などがありますが、東京に比べておいしく感じるのが韓国料理。焼肉ではありません。ＮＹでは、韓国系移民は約３０万人と言われ、そのパワーは食に生きています。今回紹介するのは、数ある韓国料理のお店の中から、ソーロンタン（牛肉を煮込んだ白濁したスープ）の専門店、『ガンミオク』です。“かき混ぜる”という意味のビビンバは、かき混ぜればかき混ぜる程おいしく、大きな皿に盛られてくる蒸し豚とカキは、中央の白菜や、一緒についてくる生ニンニクや辛いソースなどと一緒に包んで、口を大きく開けてパクリと一口で食べてください。口の中にそれぞれの味が複雑に絡んで広がります。

飲み物は、韓国のＯＢビールもお勧めですが、ベクセジュ（百歳酒）という朝鮮人参をつけたお酒は、少し甘くてすっきりとした味わいで、辛い料理にはぴったりです。是非一度トライしてください。
