Bellyqueen Dance Theatreの創立者のケイシー・チャイ先生。彼女の引き締まったボディと美貌は、まさにベリーダンスの成せる技！

元来女性の踊りであるベリーダンスだけあって、クラスは女性がほとんど。だから、恥かしがらず、純粋にベリーダンスを楽しむことが上達の秘訣です。

女性の魅力を最大限に引き出すため、思いっきりセクシーに踊ることも大事なポイントの一つです。

アメリカ、メキシコ、スペイン、アジアなど、世界中を飛び回りベリーダンスセミナーを開いているケイシー先生。東京でセミナーをした時も、生徒達に大人気でした。

衣装も、ベリーダンスの大事な要素の一つ。腰を振るとシャンシャンと音がするヒップスカーフと指につけたフィンガーシンバルでリズムをとって踊ります。

お腹と腰をくねらせて踊る魅惑的な中東の伝統舞踊、ベリーダンス。幻想的でエキゾチックなその踊りは、シャキーラやブリトニー･スピアーズなどの人気歌手たちも自身のミュージックビデオの振り付けに取り入れるなど、ベリーダンスは今アメリカでは密かなブームを呼んでいます。そんなベリーダンスをニューヨークで気軽に学べる場所が、｢Bellyqueen Dance Theatre (ベリークィーン・ダンスシアター)｣
です。
ベリーダンスは無理のない動きの有酸素運動で、普段なかなか使わない肩・お腹・腰の筋肉を動かすので、フィットネスやダイエットにも効果的です。エアロビクスのように飛んだり跳ねたりする激しい運動ではないので、日頃の運動量が少ない方や年輩の方でも安心して体験することができ、そして何よりも、普段では着られないアラビアのお姫様のような衣装が着れるので、それだけでもウキウキした気分になれます。
全くのダンス初心者向けのレベル1「Beginner Belly dance Course」は、Belly Queenダンススクール創立者であり、アメリカ、メキシコ、スペイン、アジアなど、世界中にベリーダンスの魅力を広めてきたカリスマ・ベリーダンサー、ケイシー・チャイ(Kaeshi Chai)先生が直々に指導してくれます。このビギナークラスは、滑らかな動きには欠かせない柔軟性を高める軽い運動に始まり、先生のお手本を見ながらベリーダンスの基礎ステップを学びます。6週間のクラス終了後には、ベリーダンスの振り付けを一つ踊れるようになるのが目標です。
ベリーダンスは、基本の動きさえマスターすれば、比較的簡単に踊れるので、ダンスは全く初めてという方へも、ケイシー先生が指の先まできちんと動きをマスターするまで教えてくれます。もともと、ベリーダンスは振り付けではなく即興で感情表現のひとつとして踊られていたものなので、基本さえつかめば後は音楽に合わせて自分の表現力を自由に発揮して、気持ちよく、流れるように踊るのがベリーダンスの極意です。
シャキーラのようにベリーダンスをモチーフにした踊りを学びたい！というかたには、ケイシー先生が発案したヒップホップとベリーダンスを融合させた「ベリーポッピング」にも挑戦してみてはいかがですか？通常アラビアン・ミュージックに合わせて踊られるベリーダンスを、ヒップホップに合わせて踊るので、これをマスターすればクラブなどに行ってもセクシーなベリーダンスを披露できること間違いなし。
ベリーダンスは、見る人に感動を与えるだけではなく、踊り手自身も楽しく踊れ、その妖艶な動きによって女性としての魅力を磨け、自信をつけることができます。授業は全て英語で行われますが、もともとダンスは言葉ではなく、全身で表現するもの。ケイシー先生と一緒に、ベリーダンスで楽しく女を磨きましょう！
