解説
セクシーでゴージャスな ボブ・フォッシーの振り付けの再現、『All That Jazz』を代表とする豪華な歌の数々、人間の深層を描いた心理ドラマ、飽きっぽいマスコミとアメリカの司法システムへの皮肉などが巧みに描かれた非常に内容の濃いミュージカル作品。
2003年には映画版『シカゴ』がアカデミー賞 最多６部門受賞したことはは記憶に浅い所。オリジナルは1975年にブロードウェイで大ヒットし、現在のシカゴは1997年度トニー賞 のリバイバル優秀作品賞を含む６部門を受賞し、リバイバル作品としては異例のロングラン公演中。また、大物ハリウッド俳優や有名人をたびたび起用することでも知られ、現在は2006年8月22日〜10月1日までの期間限定でR&B界のスーパースーター、アッシャーが悪徳弁護士のビリー役で出演することが話題を呼んでいる。

あらすじ
舞台は1020年代のジャズ全盛期のシカゴ、スターになることに憧れを抱く場末のクラブ歌手、ロキシー・ハートが、愛人殺しの罪で逮捕される。ロキシーは、お金が全ての悪徳弁護士ビリーの力を得て、マスコミや陪審員の同情を買い正当防衛を勝ち取り、一躍脚光を浴び、一気にスターダムにのし上がろうとしていた。しかしながら、飽きやすいマスコミにとっては、ロキシー・ハートはただの一過性の話題に過ぎなかったのだ。そこで、再び脚光を浴びようとするロキシーが次に考えたこととは、、、。
