解説
1999年にトロント、2005年にLAで上演され、好評を博す。『ザ・ドラウズィー・シャペロン』と同じマーキース劇場で公演されたミュージカル『モダン・ミリー』で主役を演じたサットン・フォスターが好演している。2005年にミュージカル『モンティ・パイソンズ・スパマロット』で振付を担当しブロードウエイ・デビューを果たしたケーシー・ニコラウが、今度はこの作品で初めて演出を担当している。ニコラウもフォスターと同じ『モダン・ミリー』の舞台に立っていた。マン・イン・チェアを演じるボブ・マーティンは、このミュージカルの脚本もドン・マッケラーと共作している。

あらすじ
通称「マン・イン・チェアー」と呼ばれるミュージカル中毒のマーティンが、3時間を越す舞台は嫌いだとミュージカルについて持論を展開する。そして、彼お気に入りのレコードに針を落とす。ステレオからレコード独特のパチパチという雑音が聞こえ、曲が鳴り始めると、舞台は1928年のミュージカル『ザ・ドラウズィー・シャペロン』の世界へと移る。ブロードウェイの人気女優ジャネットは、結婚してショー・ビジネスの世界から引退したいと考えている。結婚相手のジョージは若くてハンサムな青年だが、偶然出会って恋に落ちた彼女は彼のことをほとんど知らない。彼の自分への愛を確かめようと、ジャネットはジョージに目隠しをしてフランス人女性ミミと称してキスをせがむ。ジャネットとの結婚式を控えた新郎がジャネットが扮していたとは言え「ミミ」とキスしたことをジャネットは許せないし、彼を信用出来なくなってしまう。二人の運命は‥。
