解説
ディズニーがアニメ化し、1999年夏世界中で大ヒットした「ターザン」（原作：米国人エドガー・ライス・バローズ）のミュージカル舞台版。『美女と野獣』（1994年4 月）、『ライオン・キング』（1997年11月）、『アイーダ』（2000年3月）に続く ディズニー・シアトリカル・プロダクションの第4弾ブロードウェイ・ミュージカル である。ディズニーは、さらに、今秋『メリー・ポピンズ』（2006年11月）をブロー ドウエイに投入し、ディズニー4作品がブロードウエイを席巻することになる。

主な登場人物
ターザン（ジャングルに取り残され、ゴリラに育てられた）、ジェーン・ポーター （ポーター教授の娘。ターザンと出会い恋をする）、ポーター教授（へゴリラ研究 家）、ターク（マウンテン・ゴリラの子供。ターザンの親友）、カーラ（心優しいメ ス・ゴリラ。ターザンの育ての親）、タントー（心配性のゾウ）、カーチャック（ゴ リラのリーダー）、クレイトン（ゴリラを捕獲しようとする白人）
あらすじ
グレイストーク卿親子は、船が火事にあいボートで島に辿り着くが、ヒョウのサボー に襲われてしまう。ターザンは、危機一髪のところをゴリラのカーラに助けられ、ゴ リラの群れの中で育つ。成長過程でターザンは、自分が他のゴリラと異なることに悩 む。さらなる悩みは、ゴリラの群れのリーダー、カーチャクがターザンを仲間と認め ないこと。ジャングルでたくましく成長したターザンは、ヒョウのサボーに勝利し、 ゴリラの仲間に受け入れられる。ゴリラ観察に父親とジェーンがジャングルを訪れ る。そして、マントヒヒに襲われたジェーンをターザンが救う。二人の手と手を合わ せて、ターザンは、自分はゴリラと異なることを悟る。ジェーンに言葉を教わり、互 いの文明を伝え合う内二人は恋に落ちる。ゴリラの母親と人間の娘との間でターザン の心は揺れる。ゴリラを捕獲しようとするクレイトン一味を撃退し、ターザンはジャ ングルで暮らすことを決意をする。ジェーンと一緒に…。
