世界中で人気を博し、1億7,500万枚という爆発的なレコード売上げ記録したニュージャージー出身の男性4人ロック・グループ、フランキー・ヴァリ・アンド・ザ・フォー・シーズンズの伝記ミュージカル。過去にヒットした曲を使ったミュージカルをジュークボックス・ミュージカルと呼ぶが、今までこの手の手法で『ママ・ミア!』『ムーヴィン・アウト』が成功し、『グッド・バイブレーションズ』『レノン』が失敗している。『ジャージー‥‥』は今のところ成功作品の一つと言える。

あらすじ
1937年にニュージャージー州に生れ、独特のファルセット・ヴォイスを持つ若者フランキー・ヴァリは、歌手としての成功を夢見ています。そして、下積み生活に疲れヘアー・ドレッサーになろうかと真剣に考えていたある日、ギタリストのトミー・デヴィトと出会います。ニューヨークに出た二人はトミーが連れてきたベーシスト、ニック・マッシーとともに「フォー・ラヴァーズ」というバンドを組みますが成功の兆しは全く見えません。1961年、今度はキーボード兼、作詞・作曲家のボブ・ガウディオを加え、ザ・フォー・シーズンズというバンド名で新しくスタートします。そして、デビュー曲第二弾「シェリー」（1962年）が、全米ヒット・パレード・ホット100にランクされると、その後僅か3週で全米ナンバーワンを獲得。以後、5週間トップを独走し、グループがスターダムに登りつめるきっかけとなります。
