その名のとおり、ワシントンスクエア・パークの目の前にあるこのホテルは、朝夕は犬の散歩に訪れるニューヨーカー、午後は NYU （New York University）の学生であふれる、ニューヨークのなかでも活気のあるエリアに位置しています。創業103年の歴史あるホテルを、1973年にRita and Dan Paul夫妻が購入し、その後30年以上にわたり家族で経営をしています。だからこそ、従業員もみな家族のように仲が良く、フレンドリーにゲストを出迎えてくれます。103年の歴史を感じさせる重厚な造の外観とは裏腹に、館内の至る所にRitaさんが描いた絵画が飾られおり、まるでアート・ギャラリーのようなホテルです。ホテルから歩いてすぐのところには、ジャズの殿堂といわれている『ブルーノート』もあり、女性同士や一人旅でも安心なエリアです。そういえば、ホテル近辺はドラマ『SEX AND THE CITY』と大変ゆかりがあり、よく撮影が行われていた場所。キャリー役のSarah Jessica Parkerも近くに住んでおり、ビッグ役のChris Nothも、この近辺でよく目撃されるそうなので、運が良ければあなたもキャストの誰かに会えるかもしれませんね。
このホテルでのおすすめは、デラックスルームならではの特典。すべてのデラックスルームには、ベッドにダウン・コンフォート（羽毛布団）の 毛布と、ピロウ・トップ（マットレスの上を包むパッド）が用意された “快適な睡眠”に対する配慮。また、お部屋で高速インターネット・アクセスが無料でできることも嬉しい限りです。もうひとつのポイントは、宿泊客は、ホテルのレストランでゆったりとコンチネンタルの朝食が無料で食べられること。ラウンジは、平日の夕方からオープン、夜のお出かけ前にカクテルなども楽しめ、毎週土曜日にはジャズ・ブランチがあり、とくに、ボリュームもあるアフタヌーンティーのセットは、地元のファンにも大変好評です。
