とりあえず、ニューヨークに行くことは決定したものの、まず最初に頭を悩ませるのはその滞在先。予算と立地の折り合いがなかなかつかず、ホテル探しに時間を費やす人は多いはず。飛行機の燃料費高騰だけでもつらいのに、ホテル業界の宿泊費高騰の状況もまだしばらく続きそうです。そんなニューヨークのホテル事情のなか、新しく誕生したリーズナブルなホテルが、24歳で起業した日本人オーナー、横山篤司さんが始めた『M New York Hotel (エム・ニューヨークホテル)』です。
タイムズ・スクエアの再開発にともない、今やオシャレなカフェやショップも増えてきた10番街46丁目界隈の好立地に位置するこのホテルは、じつは、通常のアパートメントの1室を、日本人旅行客のために改装した居住スペースにしたもの。しかも、内装はメキシコシティーやソウルの『Wホテル』を手掛けてきた世界的に活躍するインテリアデザイナー、小出祐規子さんによるものです。小出さんのセンスがきらりと光るインテリアは、アパートメントながらもハイエンドな雰囲気を醸しだし、ニューヨークを肌で感じられる空間を演出しています。室内は、ゆったりとくつろぎのスペースを提供してくれる『ラグジュアリー・スペース』と、室内にバスルームを完備し、最大3名まで宿泊することができる『ロイヤル・スペース』、そしてキッチン、リビングなどの共有スペースで構成されています。日本人オーナーとスタッフによって清掃された室内はきれいで清潔で、しかも、日本語で旅の相談などにものってくれるので、リピーターのかただけではなく、初めてニューヨークに来られるかたでも安心して日本語によるサポートが受けられます。各部屋には鍵がちゃんとついており、滞在中は、ハウスキーピングも入ることはできないので、自分の部屋のようにくつろいで安心して滞在することが可能なのです。もちろん、海外でいろんな人と出会い、ふれあうことも良い経験、良い思い出になること間違いなしなので、共同スペースをうまく利用してオーナーや、スタッフ、そして他の宿泊客とぜひ交流を深めてみて下さい。
また、電子レンジ、冷蔵庫はもちろんのこと調味料までそろったキッチンもあるので、長期滞在でも外食費をセーブすることができます。なので、ここは旅行者のかただけではなく、出張などで長期滞在されるビジネスマンのかたにもおすすめです。現在、部屋数は2室のみなので、予約は早めにとって、準備万端でニューヨークの滞在をより快適な素敵なものにしましょう。
