松井秀喜の２００６年が開幕！ニューヨーカーも絶賛する「ゴジラ」４年目に注目です。

皆さん、お待たせしました！　今年もついに待望のメジャーリーグ・ベースボール開幕の季節がやって来ました！　春の到来と共に、全米に一斉にプレーボールの声が響くこの時期、野球ファンならずとも新たな希望に胸をワクワクさせていることでしょう。

ニューヨークでは、2006年はヤンキースの松井秀喜選手、メッツの松井稼頭央選手、入来祐作投手と３人の日本人選手がプレーすることになります。そのなかでは、ケガに苦しんだ稼頭央選手と入来投手は残念ながら２軍スタートになってしまいました。しかし、真打ち・松井秀喜選手は、ヤンキースでの４年目を迎える今季も春からいつも通り元気な姿を見せて、ファンを喜ばせてくれています。やはり今年もこのゴジラ松井の活躍こそが、ニューヨークの日本人にとって最大の見所となりそうです。

そして、松井秀喜選手の活躍を楽しみにしているのは、いまとなっては私たち日本人だけではありません。最近では、ニューヨークのアメリカ人の間でも、松井選手の存在感、評価はもう確かなものとなっています。今年のＭＬＢ開幕の直前、ニューヨークの地元新聞『デイリーニューズ』紙が、松井選手をこんな風に評しているのを見つけました。
「バッティング、守備と、マツイはベースボールのすべてがこなせる選手だ。誰かが何かを必要なとき、彼は必ず立ち上がってそれを届けてくれる」
辛口と言われるニューヨークの新聞がこの褒めようなのです！　松井選手は、まさにヤンキースに不可欠のプレイヤーになった、と言えるのでしょう。

４月３日の開幕戦、松井選手はいきなり今シーズン第１号のホームランを放って期待に答えてくれました。このペースなら今年は何本のホームランを打つのでしょう？　どれだけ凄い成績でニューヨーカーを喜ばせてくれるのでしょうか？
余りに順風満帆に幕開けした2006年。日本のファンもニューヨークのファンも、どちらも熱狂させるゴジラ松井から絶対に目が離せそうにありません！
