世界中がニューヨークの“ファッション・ウィーク”に注目した今月、いまのご時世、インターネットで当日のショーの様子が画像やムービーで見ることができるので、あえてNY-MIXでは、かなんが注目アクセサリーのデザイナー情報をお届けします。その“注目したいアイテム”とは、ずばりエディターズ・バッグ。

2004年の3月のデビューまもなく、多くのエディターとセレブレティーからの注目を浴び、ニューヨークでエディターズ・バッグのデザイナーとして確固たる存在感を放つ、デヴィ・クロエル。オーストリアに生まれたのち、父親が外交官であったために、インドネシア、フィリピン、シンガポール、スイス、イスラエル、フランス、そしてイタリアと移住の多かった彼女。巡り巡って落ち着いたさきが、ここニューヨーク。そして現在は、ソーホーに拠点を置いているデヴィです。そうした生い立ちゆえに、“様々な文化の要素を取り入れようと勤めているの”と言う彼女のデザイン精神は、出生の地オーストリアのポストモダン的な洗練されたシェープ、子供のころに6年間を過ごしたインドネシアのパイソン素材、そして他のアジア諸国、イタリアやフランスの加工技術などを全て盛り込んだ、何とも贅沢なクリエーションを生み出すのです。

メタリック加工された、パイソン柄の大振りなバッグがトレードマークの彼女のコレクションは、すぐさまニューヨークの一流デパート『バーニーズニューヨーク』や『バーグドルフ・グッドマン』のバイヤーの目にとまり、日本では『SHIPS』や『Changes』『UNITED ARROWS』が先駆けとなりました。そして今年は、『高島屋』にて限定モデルが発売されるので、日本でもこれまでよりも気軽に入手可能になりました。

また、ニューヨークのパーティーシーンには必須のアイテムのひとつともいれるクラッチバッグは、2シーズン前からスタートしています。ゴージャスな靴や、今シーズンからスタートしたファーのラインもセレブ感たっぷりで、その存在感たるや、彼女の顧客である、デミ・ムーア、シンディー・クロフォード、キャサリン・ゼタ・ジョーンズのようなセクシーなセレブ感を味わえること間違いなし！　ですよ。
