ファッション業界もオーガニック・ブーム？

“オーガニック”と聞くと、まず思い浮かべるのは食品類。ところが最近では、ファッション用語としてもオーガニックという言葉をよく耳にするようになってきています。健康管理に余念のないニューヨーカーにはお馴染みの言葉ですが、最近はファッション業界でも、ずいぶんそんな言葉が飛び交うようになってきているのです。今回は、そういったニューヨークでのファッション業界におけるオーガニック旋風についてご紹介致します。

アトピー性皮膚炎などのアレルギー性疾患の子供達や、敏感肌の人を対象としていたオーガニックコットンの肌着類、Tシャツなどが、より広く人々に受け入れられ、求められるようになってきているなか、最近ではオーガニックやナチュラルフードを提供する高級スーパー『WHOLE FOODS』にオーガニック素材の衣類関連の商品を置く売り場が設けられていたり、ローワー・イーストサイドを中心にオーガニックをテーマとして掲げ、食品とともにオーガニック製品の衣類を提供する『ORGANIC AVENUE(オーガニック・アヴェニュー)』や、自然志向でありながら、ファッション性を失わない新しい感覚のセレクトショップ『KAIGHT（カイト）』などが新しいショップのスタイルとして注目の的です。
また、先ごろにはニューヨークファッションウィーク期間中、やはりローワーイーストにてオーガニックをテーマとしているショップ
『EKOVARUHUSET(エコバラッシェット)』から、スウェーデン発のデザイナー、JOHANNA HOFRINGのコレクションが発表されました。日本でもエコバッグが人気を集めている中、こうした波が今後もファッションの中でどう根付いていくのかがとても楽しみですね！
